When training for a marathon, the training plan I use involves increasing your mileage up to a certain point and then “tapering” for the following 3-4 weeks prior to the marathon. So, in early August, I did a 1/2 marathon, then a couple weeks after that a 15 miler, then last week a 17 miler and this week a big fat 20 miles baby.
Last week Jennie, Chris and I went to Hyland Park in Bloomington and did loop after loop around different sections of the park to get in 17 miles. It was a pretty hot and hilly run, not the most enjoyable thing while we were running, but looking back it was really good training conditions. The run went fairly well for all 3 of us and when we were done, we went to Julie’s Cafe for brunch. It was DELICIOUS!
