Wow, what a fun weekend!! Chris and I got home on Friday night, spent a little time at a wedding, spent Saturday with family and Sunday on the Twin Cities Marathon course. It was a great race and a great time with family.
On Saturday we had the October Birthday Party at my house. We sang Happy Birthday and How many candles does it take? to 5 different people all with fall birthdays. Everyone with a birthday had to wear a birthday hat. Here we are singing for Chris’s birthday.
And a video for my birthday. I really like to clap and sing for my own birthday song, it makes it more fun and you don’t feel lonely being the only one not singing.
Loraine got an Obama card from Chris and loved it. The envelope played Hail to the Chief. It was awesome.
Sunday was marathon Sunday – time for 26.2 with my favorite running buddy, Erica. Pretty much the person responsible for getting me hooked on the marathon. She taught me to like running and really love being out on the course.
Stopped with open arms for a hug from the Nevilles. I’ll take the energy anywhere I can get it. It was pretty chilly out, only with a high of about 60 degrees. I wore a black glove from Erica and a pink one I found on the course at mile 2 – I wore them at least 1/2 of the race, it was so chilly!
Kit and Mary always make the best signs, definitely worth keeping an eye out for on the course! Mary’s sign helps explain the conditions that day.
Again, nice work. 8, really? really? I guess I’m counting- but those went fast!
Jennie made a sign too – I told her today that I didn’t even notice it along the course! I was so happy to see her in her Nepali hat that I couldn’t stop looking at her cute face! Sorry Jen! Save it for next year, it’s likely I’ll be on a course again in 2013, maybe even with Erica.. if I’m lucky?
Coming into the finish chute.
Still smiling! Erica is very focused.
Marathon 11 and done.
I had such a fun race- Erica and I stayed positive the whole time and just had fun enjoying the course and all the fans (familiar and unfamiliar) along the course. Still feels good to be at the end!
Chris. He’s really surprised.
Erica thought the biting the medal thing was a little strange.
But I made her do it anyway. They aren’t real gold, just in case you were wondering.
Julie, Chris and I.
Mom, Dad and I. I like that they wear Minnesota stuff to watch me – inspires me to do it for Goldy!
