August was the month for visitors! My parents and my aunt and uncle, Jim and Lill came to visit us and go camping down in Moab. My parents know we go there a lot, and wanted to join us for a trip and see what desert camping was all about. I think they learned very quickly that it’s HOT. It was a hot trip for them for sure. I warned them that Moab in August would be hot, but it wouldn’t be anything they couldn’t handle.
I had so much fun with them! I liked having Jim and Lill join my parents, because I felt like I could just send the 4 of them off to have an adventure on their own and they’d have a good time. The 4 of them are a great bunch and it was really fun to show off Utah to them. I’m pretty sure they had a good time and like Utah camping, even if it is super hot.
Jim, Lill, Joanne, Tom and Chris at our soon to be campsite.
Setting up camp and cooking some dinner.
We brought our major relaxing chairs – they were major relaxing nice.
My parents go camping with Jim and Lill once a year and Lill and my dad are normally in charge of cooking and my mom and Jim are not, but I caught them in the act doing some cooking!
We all hiked to delicate arch on Saturday and Chris and I had to rush out of there to get home for Katie and Matt’s “BBQ”. We left my mom, dad, Jim and Lill there to keep exploring the park and we’d meet them back in Park City on Saturday.
The “BBQ” turned out to be Katie and Matt’s wedding reception! They got married earlier in the day and had a surprise reception at their house. It’s a good thing we came home! Katie told us about it and we said we were going to be in Moab, and couldn’t make it. She sorta kept pushing us to come because “it’d be something we’d be sad to miss” so we got the hint and headed back early. Good thing we did!
Brownie had the idea to decorate Katie’s car. Hee Hee.
On Sunday, we went to the Utah Olympic Park for the Flying Ace freestyle show. Look closely, you’ll see the skiers jumping off the jumps into the pool. This is how they practice in the summer, cool- huh?
Everyone thought the show was pretty good – Joanne and Lill give it 2 thumbs up!
I do think my mom would be good at skeleton, too bad she had neck surgery, huh?
After the Olympic Park, we went to the Park Silly Sunday Market and enjoyed some bloody marys. Sunday, funday right?
