Paul and Holly got in touch with us earlier this winter and wanted to come visit – I was super excited to hear this! They hadn’t been out in a long time and I was so excited to spend a weekend snowboarding with them. Only issue was that they could only come on a weekend that I planned on doing a race down in Moab. After much discussion, we decided that they could still come and Chris would spend Friday night and Saturday with them while I went to Moab to run.
Paul and Holly got in on a Wednesday night and stayed until Sunday night and got a lot of snowboarding in! They snowboarded some part of every day and we were lucky enough to get Gold Passes from USSA the whole time. Perfect!
Penguin loved spending more time with Paul and Holly – and had to try on her Gophers jersey from Julie and show everyone that she loves the Gophers just as much as we do!
I took Friday off work and the 4 of us went to Canyons. It was a great bluebird day!
Here’s Holly off of Super Condor.
Paul and Holly – wish there was more snow in the background!
Nice snow conditions for sure! We ended up snowboarding until lunch-time and then they went to Main Street for a tour at High West and lunch afterward. I had to leave for Moab then, so it all worked out really well.
Saturday morning in Moab, pre-race! I drove down to Moab withe Nicole and Cathy. We were all running the Moab Red Hot 33k (about 20 miles).
The first couple miles was pretty hilly!
I stopped and had someone take my photo around mile 10? Gotta love running in shorts and a t-shirt in summer-like temps in February!
The race was tough, but I really liked it. I realized I needed to learn how to walk hills a little more efficiently! I’m a pretty slow walker! Sorta like this guy up on the right.
Holly’s sleepy and Paul’s holding Penguin like a baby. Long weekend for everyone!
On Sunday, we went to Powder Mountain (Mom’s favorite!).
After a short-ish day of snowboarding – (Paul and Holly had to be at the airport around dinnertime) we got hot dogs (Dad’s favorite!) and headed home to get ready to head to the airport.
