I don’t mention my marathon training much, because running is basically a normal part of my life in the late summer and fall. Doing long runs, eating a ton of food and sleeping a lot becomes just a normal part of my life. There’s no big party when I run 16, 18 or 20 miles or even do a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles). It’s just a normal thing, as strange as that might be to some of you, it makes fall complete for me. I run a lot in the fall and I like it that way.
Yesterday was a great day in my training. Something out of the normal happened. I ran my fastest 1/2 marathon so far. I ran the Salt Lake 1/2 Marathon with Katie (my old co-worker from the ski team) and John (my awesome marathon training friend that I’ve convinced to run the Twin Cities Marathon with me). I ran the race in 2 hours 13 min which is a personal record for me. My last two races were: 2 hours 50 min (in April) and 2 hours 32 minutes (in May). I’m thrilled!! That stupid speed work on the treadmill is paying off!
A lot of my friends came out to watch including Lindsey and Margo (old co-workers from ski team) who made a video of Katie and I running. Be sure to check it out. It’s very well done. Here’s the link: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=550727820161&ref=mf
