Home has become my new favorite vacation for now – forget traveling all around and seeing new things, I love to go home. Nothing beats visiting the places and people I think about all the time. If I lived there it would not be nearly as exciting and I’d be missing Park City- so, I’m okay with living in Utah and taking some awesome vacations to Minnesota.
I had a jam packed trip home, filled with lots of socializing, exercise and eating out. I went out to eat for 9 meals, ran 16 miles, walked about 15 miles, played bingo and volleyball and biked 6 miles. I pretty much spent my time with my friends and family by exercising or eating- not bad!
Chris and I met up with Ann and Andrew and went to Mystic Lake for some Cosmic Bingo. The Gaceks are our gambling all stars. They’re really good at dobbing, probably because they have a cat named Dobby.
On Saturday, I met Molly, she’s Erica and Greg’s dog. Erica and I took her for a walk around Lake Harriet. Molly is a great dog- very well behaved (nice work Sittons!) She makes me want a dog, though I know I have to wait until I’m consistently in one state to get one.
I finished! 2 hours 32 minutes (about 20 minutes less than my last 1/2 marathon time!) This is actually the better of 2 photos Chris took at the finish, and sadly not accurate of my feelings at the end of the race.
This is more how I felt. There was a big hill at the end which wasn’t so bad- but then I saw the “finish line” and starting kicking it into gear and picking up my pace to finish, only to cross the line and hear a guy yelling, “keep going!” to the real finish line, which was a block further. I was a little angry and exhausted by the time I made it there.
Sunday night, we celebrated Grandma 89th!!! and Sharon’s 24th Birthday, complete with singing “How Many Candles Does it Take?” and counting to 89. I was so happy to see my Grandma while I was home. I spent some part of almost every day with her, she’s really important to me and I enjoy seeing her when I’m home.
I spent time with family and old friends but also met some new friends, which was a highlight for me- I finally got to put faces to the names I’ve heard so much about. I’m hoping these friends will be around for awhile.
If you know me, you know that I’m not much for babies. But my new friend Sydney is an exception. She’s technically my 3rd cousin, but who really cares. She’s way cute. Sharon nannys for her during the week.
I met Molly. Molly is awesome. She really likes treats, the dog park by the Mississippi, going for walks, playing with other dogs, eating poop, and big sticks. She like to fetch really big sticks out of the river. Here’s a photo of Greg throwin her a big stick. She’s really excited.
