Time for an update. It’s been almost 2 months since I got laid off (time goes by so fast!). I’m doing well. Time healed the anger and the pain of the whole thing and the people I know here in Park City are to thank for helping me move on. Thanks especially to Katie P., Tiffanie, Nancye, Katie R. and Jeff&Erin. I wouldn’t have an income at all if it weren’t for you!
I’m currently a Starbucks Barista- this should not be new information to you. Starbucks has been a solid 2nd job for me since high school, and continues to provide a steady paycheck and some great health insurance.
My side project, quickly turning into a part time job is my freelance work: I’m in the middle of two freelance projects- one for the Ski Team- some work I was supposed to do this time of year, but now am doing it on a freelance basis. I also started another project with the YMCA of Salt Lake. I’m assisting in planning a fundraising event in May. I’m doing some photography, web work and other misc. administrative projects. I’m really excited to be working with another non-profit and doing work I feel good about. I’m still learning how to allocate my time so I’m not working at 2am and have at least one full day off per week. It’ll take some disclipine.
I realize this barista/freelance setup won’t last forever, but I’m takin it day by day and today, I enjoy this setup and am happy to have work I enjoy while also having an income in an economy that’s not so bright.
