On Thursday, April 4th, Chris and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary. We went out to dinner last night to celebrate and I put together a photo and a story for each year since we’ve been dating. Big Thanks to Mom + Dad and Kit and Julie for their help with photos. Finding photos from 2003 and 2004 was a bit tough.
Here’s a blog version of my gift to Chris. It was fun for us to talk over all the memories at dinner last night.. it’s been a long time since 2003!
We went from just friends to more than friends after celebrating Ann’s 21st birthday at my aprtment in Argyle. I remember being worried I’d be your rebound relationship and we had a long discussion at Arby’s about how I wasn’t interested in being your rebound girl. I guess you could call that our first date.
I studied abroad in London for the summer and told you that you could break up with me before I left if you didn’t want to do the long-distance thing. Even though we had a hard talk about how you wanted to date more people before committing to one for the rest of your life, you still didn’t take me up on the opportunity to break up and I’m pretty happy about it.
A photo of us at Paddelford. This was the year I did band after I’d already graduated. I was too jealous of you and Paul who got to do band and didn’t want to miss out. I really did love band.
We went to Hawaii to visit Eric and Tina. You puked off the boat, I had to touch fish, we got Eric’s golf clubs stolen, we barley slept because of the roosters and we still had a good time. We travel pretty well together.
I moved to Park City for the winter. I was frustrated having graduated college and not been able to find a job. I loved our ski trips and wanted to be guaranteed a powder day. The only way to do that was to live in a ski town. I told you I was considering moving to a ski town and you said, “I think you should, but I don’t think you have the guts to do it.” That made me want to do it even more. So I did.
You, Jennie and I ran the Twin Cities Marathon together. Your first (and supposed to be your last marathon – what happened?). It poured rain on us! We moved to Park City together shortly after finishing that race.
We just finished our first year together living year-round in Park City. I always tell people that our relationship went from “this is working well” to a serious, committed, adult relationship when you made the move. You deciding to move with me to Park City and move in together convinced me that you were here to stay, still not sure what I’d done to get so lucky to live with you in my new favorite spot.
I got braces! And we went to Mexico! I think you were attracted to my braces power (a term I use for confidence mountain biking) so couldn’t resist making out with my metal mouth or fixing the wires with a pair of pliers in the back of Snowflake.
You ran Twin Cities Marathon again. I don’t know why. Big thanks to Mary and Kit for the nice sign. I’ll take any opportunity to be referred to as Team Wawra.
We went to Nepal and though I told you “It’s too cliché to propose on vacation!”, you did it anyway and I’m glad you did. I get to be with you forever and couldn’t be happier knowing that it’ll be C + C for another 10 years and another 10 years and another 10 years and many more 10 years ‘til we’re really oooollld!
