Though it was a busy summer with Paul’s wedding in July and mine in September, I couldn’t miss sqeezing some time in up at Camper’s Paradise! When someone says “think of your happy place”, it’s usually here. So it’s hard to miss the trip, even if it’s a little shorter than usual. This year, I flew in on Wednesday and headed up with Erica and Chris joined on Friday when he came up with Greg.
Our boat and a sunset on Lake Belle Taine. I’m home.
A view of our campsite from the lake.
Kabobs – one of our normal camper’s paradise go-to meals!
Proof that the boat was working. It worked the whole trip, minus one not so good gas tank. We learned that one of the gas tanks wasn’t very good, so had to pour gas from one tank to the other while in the boat. The Lake Minnetonka map sure came in handy!
We went it Itasca State Park on Thursday – Erica and I got up early and went in to do a 20 mile training run for Twin Cities Marathon and the rest of the crew joined us for lunch and exploring big trees and the fire tower in the afternoon.
Here’s a photo of Dad after he crossed the Mississippi.
We went on a hike and it was really buggy. Here’s the group swatting away mosquitoes! My uncle Steve came along this year – his first time at Camper’s Paradise.
The whole crew minus Steve. I think this was taken in front of one of the biggest trees.
We climbed this fire tower. Only 8 people could go up at a time, so we had to take turns with the other people that were out too.
Mom, Sharon and Erica up top.
Running 20 miles and then climbing a fire tower. No big deal, right? The beach back at the campsite felt extra good that day for sure.
