I like challenges and will sometimes make up a game for myself to see if I can do it. Since I got laid off, my income isn’t what it used to be, therefore I have to get creative and think of ways to save some extra money. Chris and I have decided to try to save money on food- We eat out less and try to eat in more often. Chris makes fun of me when I look for deals or clip coupons- I don’t know if he thinks its a waste of time or the money doesn’t add up.
I wanted to prove to him that it does make a difference (right, mom?), so today when I went grocery shopping, I only bought things that were on sale or that I had a coupon for, with the exception of a few necessities.
Here’s my report:
Items purchased: 43
Total before coupons: $129
Final Total: $93
Total coupon/sale savings: $36!
Here’s all our food! Who’s hungry?
Plus we have our monthly share of co-op fresh food to add to it!
I did learn that this type of shopping requires a lot of math and time. It took me over an hour at the store, but man… saving money feels so good!
