Meet Blue Beauty. Blue Beauty was a manual 1987 Toyota Corolla FX. I got her in 2005 from Chris’s dad, Kit. He was going to donate her and I suggested he “donate” her to me since I needed some wheels post college. I got her for free and didn’t put more than $500 into her during the 3 years I had her. I gave her the name Blue Beauty because I figured that if you tell her she’s beautiful on the outside she’ll believe it on the inside, and that’s all that really matters anyway.
I drove her for 2 years, then moved to Utah for my first winter while Kit looked over her until I got back in the spring. I drove her again in the summer of 2008 before getting Snowflake to make my trip back to Utah for another winter. I handed over Blue Beauty to Sharon just as she was graduating college. Blue Beauty learned how to drive all over the Twin Cities to various substitute and student teaching jobs. I hope she learned a lot!
Sharon had her from then until today. Sharon’s going to be teaching at an outdoor school in Northern Minnesota and Blue Beauty just wouldn’t be right for the job this time. Sharon bought a CR-V and said goodbye to Blue Beauty today.
Here’s a little photo tribute to my Blue Beauty.
Blue Beauty’s next adventure. Sharon donated her to Newgate School today where she’ll be used for training students on car repair at a tuition free trade school. Or they sell Blue Beauty for money which help pays for the school itself. I’m hoping she’s sold! To me, she’s worth a lot!
I’ll miss you Blue Beauty and promise not to forget my first car.
