We went camping over the weekend down in the San Rafel Swell – I’d been to this area before, but had no idea it was so big! Crazy how each trip has been totally different and I have yet to camp in the same spot twice. In 2011 I actually went there twice, In July, we went rafting down the river and in November, I went on a girl’s trip.
This time, we camped on some BLM land outside the San Rafael Bridge Campground – it was a perfect spot! Irene and Troy went down early on Friday morning to get it for us. We ended up having 7 dogs and 7 people so it was a great amount of space to run around in. We went with Irene and Troy, Sarah and Jim (and Ceci, their baby) and 7 dogs. I&T have 3 and S&J have 3, and we just have Penguin.
I’d had a few busy weekends at work and I gotta say, other than the warm weather, it was really nice to not have cell service out here. 🙂
Our campsite. Nice and Big – plenty of space for relaxing and letting dogs run like crazy.
We went for a hike on Saturday to see the Upper Black Box.

After our hike, I went for a short run. I was just in love with the summer 60 degree temps and couldn’t get enough of it!

Jim and Ceci watching the sunset with Sarah and Jemma in the background, if you look closely you’ll see Pudgy too!
The next series of photos are courtesy of Sarah – she’s got an eye for this sort of thing!
Another view of our campsite at sunset. See what I mean.. Sarah knows how to catch ’em well!
Here’s Irene and Troy’s dog Jasmine – she’s an old lady and gets chilly sometimes so Irene let her wear her jacket. Really nice of Irene and Troy to bring Jasmine out to the desert!
Here’s Ceci – she’s a tiny bit older than our niece Ellen, so we think of Ellen when we spend time with Ceci. She’s wearing her Teletubby outfit here. Cutie!

We all got pretty dirty over the weekend – if you can’t tell by looking at Lobster on our way home! Penguin was taken right to the nearby pond for some swimming to clean off!
