Chris and I saw 3 football games over the weekend. The team we were cheering for won every time! Hopefully this doesn’t jinx us for the Gopher/Badger game that we’re going to ON CAMPUS on Saturday.
Saturday morning we watched the Gopher Game. This is how we do it Park City style. Not as exciting as we’re expecting the TCF Bank Stadium to be, but it’s the best we can do when livin out here. Gophers won against Northwestern 37-34.
Here’s the marching band’s pregame show. They were entertaining, but no University of Minnesota. No full chair step (only 3/4 chair), a short pregame, no run cadence (just running) and a band about 1/2 the size of the Minnesota. 11 clarinets and 16 tubas.
We learned bits and pieces of the Utah school songs and traditions. You make a U with your hand and go along with the drumline at one point. The school song is called “Utah Man” and has lyrics like “Who am I, sir? A Utah Man am I. A Utah Man, sir, and will be ’til I die; Ki-yi! ” I don’t have any plans to become a Utah Man and neither does Chris. We’re MINNESOTA GOPHERS and that song is a little crazy if you ask me. I much prefer, “Minnesota Hats off to Thee.” So classy.
