After a lot of back and forth on “should we or shouldn’t we”, we decided to go home for Grandma’s 95th! birthday and Ben’s surprise birthday weekend during the first weekend in June. It was going to be a quick trip, coming home Friday night and heading back Monday morning, but we really made the most of it!
Friday was National Donut Day and doughnuts are my favorite treat, so I had to celebrate. I brought this dozen into work to get the party started.
I worked a 1/2 day and Chris and I headed down to the airport in the afternoon and he hadn’t had a donut yet, that meant a stop at Dunkin Donuts!
We bought 3 donuts, and each ate one and saw this homeless man on our way to the airport and gave it to him. After 3.5 donuts, I really didn’t need another one. 🙂
Saturday morning, I woke up at 5:30 and went for an early morning run with Erica and Greg at Afton State Park. Trails in Minnesota are quite forgiving compared to the narrow rocky trails I normally run on!
So green and pretty! I loved being back in Minnesota logging some miles!
After the run, I went over to “our” house (I guess this house is now mine too, these days!?) to help get ready to get the tree removed from the front yard on the following Tuesday.
We stopped to get Dairy Queen on the way home. I love dipped cones!
Saturday night, we had Grandma and Sharon’s birthday party. Sharon’s pregnant – not sure if you blog readers know that!? Look at her cute belly! I loved seeing her pregnant, made it all become so real, versus just talking to her about it. I kept trying to feel the baby kick, and wake him/her up. But maybe next time!
The birthday girls! Maybe even 3 girls in this photo?
How many candles does it take?
A nice video of the last few numbers of Grandma’s birthday – and a little pano of everyone at the party. Hopefully it doesn’t make you too sick!
On Sunday we went to Ajawah for a surprise party for Ben. Jess planned the whole thing and it turned out perfect. We even got some time in to swim at the lake. Felt nice to be back here after our wedding in September.
