We went to Las Vegas last weekend with Jen and Christian and Brian and Jana. When we booked our June trip, we knew it’d be hot, but we didn’t think it’d be THIS hot. It got up to 110 degrees when we were there! Sizzle!
Chris and I drove there late Thursday night after we both worked a full day. Jen and Christian and Brian and Jana got there earlier in the day, even getting in some time at the pool!
On Friday morning we went to Paris for brunch buffet. Check out Chris’s funny hat in this photo!
With temperatures that warm, out days were all about spending as much time in air conditioning in the hottest part of the day that we could, so this meant going to the Atomic Bomb Testing Museum around noon on Friday! Brian found a living social deal online for it, and we figured why not?
Chris with a very big bomb.
Later that afternoon it was time for the pool. We showed up at the pool around 4pm and had some cocktails, a little happy hour pool style!
The whole crew! Ballers!
Brian and Jana are all about the night clubs in Vegas and Chris and I usually trust that if we tag along with them we’ll have a good time, so Friday night was club night and they got us VIP access at Tryst at the Wynn. I wore a super sparkly dress that I borrowed from Brownie. It was a bit short on me for what I’m used to, but not short for Vegas! Anything goes, apparently.
Jana and I dancin’ it up!
We got to Tryst at about 11pm and the DJ there then was okay – we were enjoying his music and all, and then the main act DJ Saint Clair came on at 1pm. She was AWESOME. Totally changed the vibe at the club – we weren’t really tired anymore and felt like we could party all night. We were dancing in the front row and Jana simply asked if he could go take a photo with her, and she said yes! Next thing, Brian’s up on stage taking a photo with her! Way cool. We stayed ’til about 2:00pm – I so wish she started playing sooner.
Another shot of Brian being Mr. Baller.
Saturday’s high bought us 111 degrees! This meant more pool time for sure.
Here’s the pool at the Mirage on Saturday. A lot busier than Friday for sure.
On Saturday night we decided to go out do a fancy dinner. Chris got some gift money and he wanted to share it with everyone on a show or dinner, so we picked a dinner that was like a show. We had a hibachi style dinner at Mizumi at the Wynn.
Chris and I ready for dinner!
Christian and Jen
Starting up our dinner! We all decided the beef was the thing to get. I got chicken and was jealous of Chris’s steak. Really good meal all around!
Done with dinner – thanks for the gift!
After dinner, we took taxis to Freemont Street to see classic Las Vegas – it was really busy there! We were hoping to play some tables as a group, but we could barley fit into the casinos there – Jam packed!
Chris won some $$ at the Golden Nugget last time we were here, but not so lucky this time! Bummer!
On Sunday, Jen and Christian had to fly out earlier in the morning, so we sent them on their way and headed to go see Hoover Dam with Brian and Jana.
We sorta just did a drive-thru and got out and took photos and will save the whole tour for another time.
They don’t even look like it’s +100 degrees! Maybe they’ve finally acclimated to the heat?
Pretty low water levels out here. Conserve your water, people!
Still really pretty. Maybe Dad’s boat wants to come out here?
After Hoover Dam, we went to In-N-Out Burger for lunch. They don’t have In-N-Out in Minnesota, so Brian and Jana wanted to get it while they could! Chris and I have them in Salt Lake, but can usually think of something we like more like Chipolte or McDonalds. 🙂
