I’m very active and until now have never been injured to a point where I have to stop exercising or sit on the sidelines, so I guess I’m due.
A week or so after I got back to Minnesota the arches of my feet started to hurt badly. I’d work for an hour or so at Starbucks standing on my feet and would be in so much pain that I couldn’t think about anything else for the last 6 hours of my shift. Then I’d try to go for a run after work and would quit early. I’m usually able to work and then go for a run- no problem.
I put up with this for 2 weeks and went in to a podiatrist (foot doctor) so I could figure this out and get back in gear. Turns out, I have Plantar Faciitis. I’m going through a two week therapy program of ultrasound and taping to rest and recover the arches of my feet which are so badly abused. My therapy does not include running, excessive walking, or playing frisbee. I’m not good at sitting out, and really don’t enjoy it, but really really want to get better so I can actually enjoy it again.
