So, you know I bought a new car Ruby, just last year. I had every intention of liking her – she was a stick shift, all-wheel drive. heated seats and had plenty of space for adventures. She was an awesome camping and adventure car and was well loved for the time I spent with her, but she’s been replaced.
I learned something about myself during my time with Ruby. I like to drive fast cars – I want something fun to drive and fun to drive doesn’t necessarily mean manual transmission. It means power. Ruby was pretty underpowered and I’d get frustrated driving up mountains at a turtle-like pace. I’d get stuck in Parley’s Canyon (coming up from SLC) behind a semi truck without enough power to pick the speed and pass them. I started to enjoy driving Chris’s car, Lobster, more than my own. This was the start of becoming a Volvo convert. Sorry Subaru.
Welcome Cookie Monster! I enlisted in the help of Volvo-master Chris and we decided that an XC 60 Polestar R-Design was the right next car for us (me). This car is fast! 325 HP, 354 lbs of torque, and all the other good things like heated seats, all wheel drive. But no manual transmission – I’m not sure I could keep up anyway.
I’ve been driving Cookie Monster for a couple weeks now and I AM IN LOVE. I realized that I was grouchy driving Ruby. I’d arrive places annoyed and bothered and it took a new car for me to realize that. I’m a total Volvo convert. This car is awesome. Chris knows his stuff, he helped pick the perfect car for me. We fight over who gets to drive now. Good thing I drive to work and he works at home, means I get to take the car most days. 😉
