So, Chris and I got back from Minnesota on Tuesday at 5pm and Wednesday at 7:30am I left town again. I don’t know what I was thinking when I planned all this so close together!!! Usually I can go right from one thing to another really well, but the wedding really wore me out.
I’ve been in Leadership Park City for the entire year and the program sort of wraps up with a City Tour to a place similar to Park City to learn more about things that work and don’t work in a city and where other cities are headed and what we can learn from them. It was a really interesting trip! We went to Vail, CO for 3 days and Steamboat Springs, CO for 2 days.
Here’s most of our group. 7:30am ready to board the busses for the drive to Colorado! I’m in the middle in the back, how tired do I actually look?
Wednesday was mostly a travel day and Thursday we learned all about the town of Vail and Vail Resort. We did some walking tours learning about the area.
Vail has this new village area at the base of their mountain called Solaris – a lot of big winter events happen there.
Vail also has a lot of really appealing public art – this is actually a playground too! Way cool. All of us adults played on it. Really cool.
We went up to Vail mountain and went on a jeep tour.
Sarah and I taking a photo at 11k feet. It’s really pretty up here.
On Friday, we checked out Beaver Creek. They give you free cookies. Pretty awesome.
I went back for seconds!
Friday night, we took the gondola up for dinner at 10th Mountain at Vail. It was nice to mingle with Vail employees (some of which I knew!) and some Vail locals. The mayor of Vail sat at our table.
We spent Saturday touring around Steamboat and got some much needed free time. I got a couple girls together to run down the mountain. It was just what I needed!
Sunday we headed home – I fell asleep in the car and one of my carpool mates took this photo of me asleep with my phone. I was TIRED. Two weeks off work wore me out!
