I did the Mid Mountain Marathon last year, and had such a great time doing marathon training on trails and running the race, that I decided to do it again. It’s not every year that you can run the 26.2 all on trail outside your door!
This was my 10th marathon – what better way to celebrate than to run a beautiful course from Deer Valley to Canyons!?
This is about at Mile 8… lookin good, right?
A couple miles later, I picked up my friend Katie and she ran miles 10-18 with me. It was the best part of the race for me, I had great company through a difficult, hilly and somewhat boring part of the course. Thanks Katie!
Katie and I at the Mile 18 waterstop at Red Pine Lodge at the top of the gondola at Canyons. She said farewell to me as I left to go run the last 8 miles on my own.
I had quite a few friends out running on Saturday too. I convinced my friend Nicole to run the race and she had a lot of fun- you can see her headed into the finish in this photo with Margot and Zoë , her two little girls running after her. Cute!
Here I am headed into finish marathon number 10! Brownie’s ready with the high fives! The guy in white made fun of me for running up a hill at the very end of the race when everyone else was walking and then he caught up to me and threatened to beat me. I wasn’t going to let that happen!
Yep, I went in front of him.
Nicole and I. She finished her first marathon and loved it! Horray!
Chris and I
Kim, Tracey and I. I did some training with these two also – they started the “Trails & Ales” group, where they like do do Saturday morning runs and have a beer at the end. Nice!
