If you’re following my other posts, you know we’re having an AWESOME winter. Lots of snow and that’s what we like. We like to go play in the snow, but in order to do that, we have to get the snow off our driveway.
We spent all of December shoveling and after another round of storms came in January, Chris’s back couldn’t take it anymore. After his surgery in 2009, he was supposed to be taking it easy on his back. Shoveling over 3 feet alone in December is not taking it easy. Another 3 foot storm over a week-span in January meant it was all me. Chris would push the snow to the sides of the driveway, but I’d lift it over The snowbanks that were actually taller than me! This was a 2x/day process some days – we’d do it before work and then again after work.
We could only make it through this routine for so long (and so many inches of snow). It was unsustainable – eventually I’d have to have a back surgery too. So we decided to use some Christmas money from Grandma to buy a snowblower. Meet Knight Rider, our new snowblower. My mom suggested we name it that after my Big Wheel I had when I was a kid. Funny how toys change, huh? Already getting a lot of use – within the first week we owned it, we snowblowed the driveway 5 times!
Our snowbanks in our driveway after shoveling – the uphill side has an awesome concrete wall that we have to lift the snow up and over. It was getting really tall!
One of our snowbanks even avalanched!
Meet Knight Rider, How does she look?
Getting down to business.
