I ran my 3rd Mid Mountain Marathon (MMM) last weekend and it was a great race! I’m training to do my first 50K on Oct. 17, so planned to use this as a training run to prep for 31 miles by running 26.2. I had a really good race! I finished right around 6 hours. My slowest MMM yet, but I was aiming more for “time on feet” training instead of a perfect time. Basically training my body to run for a long time, versus run fast.
Fast Eddie – I ran most of the race behind this guy. Ed’s run like 69 marathons and has run MMM at least 10 times. He was the one that suggested the “time on feet” run and helped pace me at least 1/2 of the race.
We had this “conga line” for awhile during the race – all following Ed and my pace. Nice to meet some new people out on the trails!
I left Ed around mile 16 or 18 and picked up Katie. She offered to help pace me in and it was awesome! I took the first 1/2 of the race pretty mellow and was able to really turn it up during the 2nd half. Katie kept us at a great pace!
Eddie and I. I really enjoy running with him. Conversation never gets old.
I run with a group here called the Hatu Harriers – 4 of us ran MMM. Nice to see them all out on the trail!
Ed and Ann have run all the Triple Trail challenges – Triple Trail Challenge is running Jupiter Peak Steeplechase (16 miles), Park City 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) and MMM (26.2 miles) every summer. You run all three races and get a special jacket. Ed and Ann are the only ones who’ve run all 3 every year since it started. I think they’ve done 10? Maybe more! Kudos to them!
