New Year’s Eve isn’t really my favorite holiday. Every year you try to make these epic plans to do have a big celebration and party and ring in the New Year with craziness, and the plans just don’t turn out how you imagine. This year, Chris and I kept plans low key, and that was perfect.
After fireworks, we had chili at Katie and Matt’s house (cabin) out in Oakley, which is about 30 minutes into the woods out of Park City. There was a full moon- the 2nd in a month, which makes it a blue moon. We went on a midnight hike without headlamps, because it was so bright we didn’t need them! At midnight we went on top of this round water tank and opened a bottle of champagne.
Matt seared the bottle with a knife. It was pretty cool- you chill a bottle of champagne and slide the knife edge up and down the bottle and then go for the lip on the top and the whole glass top part of the bottle comes off! Pretty fancy.
