Park City is a pretty cool place. I often get to workout on my lunch break at Canyons and usually will go for a run, go snowboarding, go to the gym or go cross-country skiing. I’m just getting into skate skiing, which is the kind of skiing where you ski in more of a V form rather than two back and forth II’s. It’s very complicated, and I’m still trying to figure it out.
My friends at USSA were going skiing with Olympic Gold Medalist, Billy Demong (look him up if you don’t know who he is!) at lunch today to get some skate skiing tips. I figured what’s better than to learn from someone who’s obviously got it down? I was all in.
Skiing with an Olympian on my lunch break is pretty freakin’ cool.
Billy was fast and basically lead the group the whole way. Here’s a photo from the back!
After a short break, we were off to follow again! Billy’s in the green/yellow and black. I think we were working on endurance?
Here’s Billy giving the group some tips on going uphill. I think there were about 12 of us. It was pretty cold, so I had a hard time asking someone to take off their gloves to take a photo of me in action. Next time.. I promise!
Afterward, my friends Nancye and Courtney took a photo with Billy – Next time, I’ll get the guts to do this!
