My family (minus Paul) came out to visit me this past week en route to California to drop Sharon off at her new teaching job with High Trails. They’ve all been here before, but only in the winter. We all had a ton of fun exploring Park City and the surroundings in the summer like weather.
On our way home from the bike/hike we went to a Park City “gem” that I never even knew existed. John, my running buddy suggested it. It’s an old cemetery with people who died in the early 1900’s are buried. There’s a guided walking tour where you can connect certain headstones to a short blurb on them on the map. It was really interesting! I will for sure go back, maybe around Halloween? Spooky.
On Wednesday, Chris had the day off so we decided to do something the two of us had been wanting to do for a long time. We’ve wanted to see Timpanogos Cave since our friend Irene recommended it. This photo best describes our hike up to the cave- Mom’s pretending to be happy, Sharon’s interested in the fact stop spots, Dad’s sleeping and Chris is picking up ladies.
The hike was pretty tough. It was about a mile and 1/2 uphill using switchbacks. It got a little intense for the Minnesota crew that’s not used to the altitude and for people who have bad backs like Chris. Poor baby.
After playing frisbee, we were going to just head down, but decided to go on a little hike and encountered a couple moose. We saw a momma moose and baby! I was so happy that my family got to see these guys, this is honestly only the 2nd and 3rd alive (not roadkill) moose I’ve seen since I’ve lived out here. It was amazing!
