I signed up for another marathon. Are you really that surprised?
About two months ago, I found myself a bit ahead of my training schedule for two spring half marathons and was feeling pretty good. I am signed up to do two spring half marathons, one in Ogden on May 18th (about an hour from Park City) and one June 1st in Moab. I felt pretty solidly trained for these races in early April, so decided to make an attempt to increase my mileage enough for a June or July marathon.
After a decent 14 miler and a really good 13 miler the week after, I decided to do it. Find a June or July marathon and train. I started to debate between races – maybe Grandma’s Marathon again, maybe one in Salt Lake in July and then I found San Francisco marathon and knew I found the right thing. I’ve never been to San Francisco and have always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge – so why not run a marathon across it?
Here’s some photos of my training runs – at this point, I’m feeling pretty good. Big thanks to Chris for all the drop-offs and pick-ups, and Nicole and Katie for logging the miles with me.
May 4th: 14 Miles
May 11th: 18 Miles – getting a pedicure after!
May 18th: 13.1 Miles @ Ogden Half Marathon in the pouring rain. Thanks to Lauren for this photo! I didn’t bring my phone out – it was down pouring! Finished the race with very wet soggy clothes and feet.
May 25th: 20 Miles – started early and saw the sun gradually come over the mountain onto my trail.
