Even though we were pretty wiped out by a really busy September, we still made the trip home for the Twin Cities Marathon weekend. Our Utah friends Irene, Sarah and John decided to run the 26.2 miles of the race and it’s sorta become my annual go-to marathon, so I wasn’t going to let them run it without me! Plus, logging all the miles training over the summer, kept me sane with all that wedding planning drama. Felt good to go get some fresh air and run off the energy after a full decision making morning.
The weekend ended up pretty perfect anyway – my cousin Becky got married on Saturday, so I got some family time in too. Along with a Wawra trip to Sisyphus Brewing to check out what Cuddy (who took photos at our wedding) had on tap.
We had “assigned seating” at the wedding – here’s the Wawra significant others. Recognize the flags? They made quite the trip to weddings!
The Wawras – I think I must have dad’s skin and Sharon and Paul have Moms? Or I just spend a lot of time outside without sunscreen?
Wawra pants dance. Not explaining further.
Race day! 14th Marathon, 9th Twin Cities Marathon. It was a bit chilly at the finish line, can you tell??
I ran the entire 26.2 with these two. Couldn’t have asked for better running buddies!! Erica trained really well and hard for the race, I was pretty “medium” in my training and Chris was very minimal – and we all crossed the finish line at about the same time. Funny how things happen! I finished 5:02:09. Pretty decent time considering how busy of a fall I had!
I’ll run 26.2 with Erica, any day. Hands down.
After all the running we had a HUGE October Birthday party complete with additional guests: John, Sarah, Irene, Troy, Suzanne, Erica – it was awesome! I’m pretty sure we sang “How Many Candles Does it Take” 8 or 9 times. Love it!!
