After all the official actually getting married stuff on Friday night, it was time to have a party on Saturday. For me, this was the day I was really looking forward to! I always wanted my wedding to be just a big ‘ol party with all of our closest friends.
And that’s what we had! We got REALLY lucky with the weather! Chris and I kept doing favors for anyone all summer thinking that all this “good karma” would get us back when we really needed it. We’d petsit for our friends dogs, give our friends rides to the airport – really what anyone needed, we were there. It certainly paid off!
We had plenty of help to get the area ready. Here’s a photo with Mary, my mom and I before all the guests arrived.
They’re here! Party can start! Huge thanks to Kit who made us this awesome photo board with photos of our childhood and 11 years together before this big day!
Personally, I’ve never seen Ajawah look so good! Now this is a party!!
What’s a party without kegs? We got a keg of Premium (my favorite MN beer) and Summit, also another good MN beer. Kegs are illegal in Utah, so we went big because we were home. 🙂 Leslie and Matt were keepin’ track of the kegs.
We debated “wedding favors” but decided to go for it. Our guests got a mug to drink beer in while they were there and also take home. Perfect addition to a “beer themed” wedding.
I didn’t want to put on much of a show in front of people or talk a whole lot, so Chris did some really nice Thank Yous and I made a speech about recycling and compost. 🙂
Can’t go wrong with these 3 Nevilles.
Brownie made the trip from Utah and actually took most of the photos from this post! It’s amazing how busy both Chris and I got, so really great that she was on it!
The dessert table was something we overlooked a bit and forgot to make a plan. I emailed my mom some photos off pinterest and some ideas I had and she just took care of it. I had arranged for family and friends to make desserts and she made it look this good. Thanks mom, it was perfect.
Here she is with one her BFF’s Carole. Carole and Beth fulfill the role of my mom’s sisters (she doesn’t have any) so therfore they’re sorta my Olson Aunties. They planned my bridal shower. Thanks to Carole and Beth for all your help in making my day special.
While we’re on Thank yous… without Katie, this whole thing wouldn’t have happened. I was ready to go to the courthouse and do something small and she made it all happen. She kept Chris and I on track in doing all the planning needed and helped concept this amazing event. I’m so grateful for our friendship.
Ajawah, looking so good. Everyone seems to be happy eating food!?
After dinner, Paul got up and I just assumed he was going to give a speech. No.. he was up to introduce a very SPECIAL GUEST…
GOLDY GOPHER!!!! Holy crap. Goldy came to our wedding. Watch the video I was very happy and surprised.
Goldy gave me some maroon and gold flowers and asked me to marry him. Darn! I just got married yesterday! Little did I know, Goldy was on his way to ask for my hand. I guess if I was going to marry any other guy, Chris would support a marriage to Goldy?
Yes!!! I think I’m still in shock a little bit. Turns out Brownie coordinated with some friends to go in on Goldy coming to the wedding. She totally harassed the U of M Athletics Department about it all summer and it worked out!
Here’s a photo of all the U of M graduates at our wedding. Does anyone reading this blog have a better photo they could send us? This angle isn’t ideal.
Only 2 people in this photo did not go to the U of M. I bet they wish they did!
Big Thanks to Brownie.
Hey, Goldy.. She’s single! I was yesterday morning!
Penguin has only been with us for a year, we’ll forgive her for being afraid of Goldy. It’ll take some time for her to know that Gophers are really nice and not scary like stupid Badgers.
Sunrise at the Beach, Sunday morning.
Julie got us Tobie’s caramel rolls. It was a good day when I realized that Wyoming wasn’t too far from Hinkley where one of my favorite non-doughnut breakfasts comes from.
Me and my Utah girls.
Nick is a Badger fan, so Goldy refused to have his photo taken with Nick, so spinned his head around. Good move Goldy!
My parents hang out with this crew now that us kids aren’t around to bug ’em. Looks like they know how to party.. mugs in hand!
Wawra U of M grads! Not pictured Johnnie John and Bennie Sharon.
The whole family. John even has his arm around Goldy. Herky would be disappointed, but I appreciate what John does to be part of this family.
